What We Do
Our business activities are in the following areas:
General Equipment Rental - equipment for the homeowner, do-it-yourselfer,
municipal/university entities and light contractor
Party/Banquet Equipment Rental - party and banquet equipment for individual parties and weddings, caterers, hotels, municipal/university entities and special events planners
Penske Truck Rental - box trucks for personal or commercial use for one-way, extended round-trip or local rentals
Action Rental is active in our community's social and economic activities and supports many of its programs for economic and social growth. We consider our "community" to be the local area including Pittsfield Township, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. We are active in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Chambers of Commerce. We donate tens of thousands of dollars in goods and services each year to needy and worthwhile causes in our community.
History
Although a rental business has existed on this site since approximately
1980, Action Rental began October 1, 1985 under the ownership of DGB & K, Inc. The
corporation is privately held by the Lewis family. We qualify as a woman-owned business.
Action Rental has grown substantially. We are more than twice our original size.
We are diverse. Our broad range of rental and sales activities has been a definite asset as the economy has gone through its boom and bust cycles. We are able to shift our resale and rental efforts to adjust to the ever-changing economic forces.
Philosophy
Action Rental provides goods and services to our customers and assists
them in filling their rental equipment needs. Integrity in all transactions with
suppliers, customers and employees allows this business to provide quality goods and
services in a reliable manner at a competitive price. We accept and follow the standards
of conduct embodied in the American Rental Association Code of Ethics.
We make every effort to treat our customers very well because they are the most important people with whom we do business. They make it possible for us to receive our paychecks. As a company and as individuals, we believe and support the Customer Creed.
Our customers are many and varied. They include homeowners, construction companies, manufacturing plants, government agencies, churches, schools, caterers, hotels and hospitals. All will be looking for rental products and services that will provide them with the easiest and most economical way of doing a job around the house, cutting costs on construction, or giving a party or other special event. It is our job to provide them all with these services by renting them the proper equipment at the appropriate price and following up with the best in considerate service.
Renting is a service business. Good service means that "we do what we say we will do when we say we will do it." We accurately define the job as to equipment supplied, location, schedule and setup/takedown instructions. Then we perform that job as agreed with great attention to detail. Every interaction with the customer is courteous and respectful. Good service will bring the customer back again and again!
Ethics
Action Rental is a member of the American Rental Association (ARA). We
accept and follow the standards of conduct embodied in the ARA Code of Ethics. We expect
each employee to accept and follow these standards of conduct as well.
